The signal was strong, there was something here all right, not that he really needed the tracker. The huge bolts of purple lightning, swirling rings of dark clouds, and fleeing New Yorkers running away from the park was a good visual indication. A fragment of one of the Reality Stones had landed in the midst of Central Park and without a mind to control it, the shard took the liberty to change everything within a mile radius into its own personal surreal playground. From floating islands of concrete and vehicles to trees that were unraveling like paper streamers. It was a Salvador Dali painting come to life…
Well, warped reality or not there was a shard in that mess and no amount of strange happenings will keep him from getting it!
As Otto stood at the edge of the grass, he could see ahead of him was a huge dome-like barrier of purple energy erected by the fragment as he scanned it. Outside of the barrier, everything seemed normal, inside was another story…
“Hmm. No real way of telling if I too will succumb to the shard…” Holding up his hand his upper left actuator reached across and slowly came into contact with the barrier. It seemed to be able to push through it like a membrane. With no immediate ill effects, the actuator was pulled free…
“I may need some sort of test subject…” Otto pondered.

Home at Sanctum Sanctorium, away from the hospital and the blaring alarms going off. Stress was something that people dealt with in daily life as Strange had discovered that. He had for a while been a surgeon there until his hands had been destroyed in a car crash. He had gotten up that morning for Strange, and no day was normal anymore being the Sorcerer supreme as he was sipping his coffee with some hearty breakfast.
But down below, there was something that wasn’t right as he saw out of the circular structured window with magical form over it, he could see a large portion of New York as it looked like people were running. He had observed this before they were running in pure terror out of something that he couldn’t see. “Eye of Agamotto reveal to me that I cannot see.” He said collapsing his hands around it as the eye woke up revealing a deep colorful object in the center of Central Park. Chaos was about to happen as reality was destroying itself. Eating it from the inside out. This was something that he should look into. What about other heroes? No, he had not seen many that were there in some time. The ones here were just as confused and lost from this dimension. They were all unique. They all had potential. But what they were going to do with that power, and was up to them.
He snapped his fingers as a large red flowing cape came over towards his side as he strung it around him, as the cloak of levitation secured itself around his neck. Once he was out of the building, he took a line right for Central park to investigate what was going on. Strange didn’t have a spidey sense, but he could tell that there was going on here wasn’t right at all.
“What on earth is happening here? Something not from this world, something out of this area that is very strong and very powerful. Yet others seek it out for by different means by their own.” Dr. Strange said as he approached the area the levitating sorcerer made his approach; he saw that a four-armed man was coming towards the other area. Ah yes, he had a Doctor Octopus in his time. He had many plans for Spider-Man, and himself. All of which, had been thwarted to be sent to prison as he had gone mad with power. This Otto seemed different.
He could not believe that he was going to say this, but they were after the same thing. “Doctor Octopus, you and I are after the same thing. I had seen it through the eye. There are only two outcomes here. I suggest we work together or fight it out, and so one of us only gets the energy that you and I seek. I would suggest the peaceful out come for that matter. I know of a Doctor Octopus in my dimension and what you are capable of.” Dr. Strange said. He saw one girl running away before she almost slipped and fell as the cracked floor opened up from down into a pit like the ground gave way to two. Though it was true, Strange had been checking on things why these odd shards were appearing. He only saw glimpses. Outcomes of what may happen once. After the shards were collected sent back to their rightful homes or put in a safe place until they could figure out what to do with them. Dr. Strange had summed up many of them as being dangerous and ending in resulting failure. But perhaps, there was a little bit of hope in the end.
“By the Crimson Bands of Cyotorrak!” He said calling out towards the woman as the bands grabbed onto her before floating her to safety Dr. Strange’s eyes had lit up to be a bright red as he set her down, and she was shaking in fear as the tunnel had almost eaten her alive. The red bands of energy soon faded behind her. Dr. Strange didn’t know what this man was up to, but he didn’t trust him either.

Speaking of test subjects…
“Oh, greetings Doctor Strange…” Otto said half heartily. He too had a Doctor Strange in his universe. He remembered long ago he approached him asking for a collaboration on his neuro interface tech back when Strange was a well-renowned neurosurgeon. Only to be blown off and made fun of like the entitled dolt he was. Then years later he saw him sitting homeless on the street looking like hell and half-drunk after some sort of car accident. Otto even tossed him a few dollars at Mary Alice’s request. Now he was some sort of..wizard? It would seem as if this one too had magical powers. He could not wait to see if he pulls a rabbit out of something….
As Strange saved a bystander from the surreal fate happening from within the dome, Otto turned to face him as the wizard levitated closer.
“I have nothing to do with the Otto Octavius that you may know of Strange. So to lump me in with his actions is juvenile…” Otto said with clear disdain in his voice, it would seem Strange arrogance transcends dimensions. Slipping his hands into his pockets he glanced back at the dome of shimmering energy before looking back at Strange as a slight smirk crossed his features.
“So now you wish for us to join forces? Sounds like a prudent idea indeed…” He said as an actuator bent down and around the wizard's back and coiled into an S position. “In fact, I was just thinking about a collab…” He grinned as the tentacle suddenly slammed into Strange’s back shoving him right for the dome as Otto waited to see if he too unraveled like the trees.
Nothing like a laboratory animal to take the brunt for science…

Dr. Strange had, of course, been right about this Otto Octavius too. He knew better than to trust a villain. Yet, Strange didn’t understand from what he had seen. He had seen Otto work with others. This one was different from the one that he had encountered. The loner Doc Ock, was always by himself and secluding himself from others, yet he successfully made a team of Sinister Six. As far as he could tell, this one hadn’t, for that matter.
He had no spidey sense or early warning system, but he should’ve known better. He felt the arms wrap around him as he slammed into the nearby tree. “Oof!” He called out as his air got knocked out of his lungs. He managed to breathe a bit after taking a few sharp gasps of air. He was certain nothing has broken, and his ribs seemed to be intact. His back would be bruised from crashing into the tree. He coughed a bit. As he felt it go through his back. He was able to speak, which was all that he needed now, sending Otto a warning. Yet, Dr. Strange had a feeling it was going to fall upon deaf ears. “Are you mad!? Do you not know what shard you are dealing with!? This shard could very well send us into a dimension that we have no return to. Not that has already happened once to us.” Dr. Strange said. He knew the portals had sent them there.
“You and I could be working on the same plane. I was once a man of science, something that we share. But it was clear I strayed another path.” Dr. Strange said, knowing very well, its power had to be restrained, in the Sanctum Sanctorium. Its energy contained and held there until they could get a proper handle on it. He had no idea what it would be like ending up in the hands of a villain. More chaos. More anger. More danger. He didn’t want to see any of this. Yet, by some odd, bizarre feeling Dr. Strange thought he saw some good in Otto. However, the chance was gone and hopeless. He was talking to a man who had already been gone and was just like the others.
Strange couldn’t help but wonder if there was a Doc Ock who had changed and become good in another dimension. He doubted it. “And you leave me no choice.” His feet were trapped but he wasn't helpless here. Dr. Strange could use his hands, as he was going to make sure he got out of here, one way or another. So he lifted his hand calling out a chant. "I have seen you working on the news with a spider. When he resembles the very person you hate. I can't seem to understand why the secluded Dock Ock would work with an unlikely ally or anyone at all." Dr. Strange said.
“By the light of seraphim!” He called out. He hoped to make a retreat. His hands glowed a deep bright white light to blind Otto, and he saw those goggles on his face, and perhaps he was sensitive to the touch. “And the Daggars of Davarok!” Using his voice, large daggers of a red hue were aiming right towards Otto. They looked ancient and menacing, blades sharp for being energy constructs.

“I indeed do not know. That is why I shoved you in first. One always sends in a test subject before entering a dangerous situation…” Otto said as he walked through the shimmering barrier with a little bit of force. Much to Otto’s dismay, Strange seemed to have come through unscathed. He was sort of hoping for a Lovecraftian horror to befall him but no such luck…
“It would appear as if this particular shard is creating a world all for itself. Building its own castles in the sand as it were. Right down to a membrane cutting the edge of its range off from the outside world. Fascinating.” Otto paused as a pair of Japanese koi swam past him in mid-air. “Though I surmise without a mind to guide it we are in for some rather vast amounts of what people call..nightmare fuel…” Hearing strange remarked Otto shook his head with a small laugh.
“On the same plane, you say? No. what I did, I did for science and the betterment of mankind. What you did was only for yourself. Your eidetic memory giving you an edge over everyone else in your field. But instead of using it further your field, you did it for fast cars and I am sure faster women. Only to lose it all in that crash that I am assuming you suffered from given the fact that you still think you're a magician in this world as well…” Otto paused as said magician turned on him!
“What are you..GAH!” Holding up his hands in front of his face the upper two arms came down and wrapped around him to keep out the blinding light! Wincing even with his glasses on Otto struggled to open his eyes! The wizard now had a pair of daggers in his hands aimed at him! Otto sneered as his actuators unraveled and screeched metallic hisses!
“Oh come now Strange! One of us had to venture into this place first. No need for both of us to perish. And you, see? Nothing happened to you besides that of a bruised rib or two..and a bruised ego. So, by all means, put those weapons away…” Looking past Strange Otto’s face fell as he held up a hand, pointing to the surreal landscape in front of them. The sky was a shimming purple hue like that of gasoline spilled on the surface of the water. Trees had been lifted into the air gripping the lawn by their roots. The large lake in its center was now shifting from freezing over to boiling off completely before filling back up as rain and then starting the cycle all over again. And what he could only assume were multi colored jelly beans now flying in formation overhead...
“We have much bigger problems…” Octavius paused as a young girl wearing a petticoat and made of bronze skipped over to him.
“Pardon me, sir? Have you seen a white rabbit!” Otto stared down at her before one of his actuators motioned behind him as she curtsied and skipped away.
“And that would be Alice in Wonderland…” Rubbing the bridge of his nose Otto sighed. “This shall indeed be a long day…” Looking up he was alerted by an alarm in his upper left actuator! “It’s a signal from the shard! It seems to be centered due north of here.”
Not far from their location in the heart of what is known as Belvedere Castle a glowing fragment of the Reality Stone was growing strong and stronger by the moment as the barrier grew larger!
Post by Stephen Strange on Jun 1, 2021 5:47:22 GMT 1
The castle was huge. To put it simply, and they would be walking through a giant maze as the reality shard was only a short distance away, yet this was making it even harder. “You were the one who threatened me, Otto, I naturally defended myself.” He said still keeping the daggers upright in case he needed to defend himself. “I can make a portal to get us through the maze faster, but being so close to the gem, it may go haywire and send us all to another dimension. And I don’t want to risk that.” Dr. Strange said knowing this was chaotic enough as the sorcerer seemed rather reluctant to have Otto around in the first place. He would very much prefer to have it his way and get the shard alone.
“Come on, like you aren’t the only one who was working for their physical gain. Trying to use your inventions to destroy a city. That would kill thousands of lives. That’s what the version of Otto I was with saw happen. There are good people in this city I just wish others saw that.” Dr. Strange said with a sigh. “I lost it all when my hands do not work. Science could not even fix it. I could not even write my name. Yet, how do you explain it? A miracle? My hands are working again after I discovered magic.” Dr. Strange said as it opened up his eyes. He half doubted that Otto would listen to him. Perhaps he was rambling on for nothing.
“I’ll tell you what if we somehow survive this, and you get the shard, I will take your spider friend for a couple of weekends.” Dr. Strange said. Having seen footage of the two workings together with the impending portals that were opening. “I’ll think of something for you to do for me if I get it. Call it a wager.” He offered to see that both sides seemed like they were going to have to fight for it after all or whoever got the shard first. He was curious. What was Otto going to do with the shard once he got it? It was hard to say. “You can watch Mr. Bubbles for me. Sounds like a fair trade-off.” He said as Otto would likely not be impressed by a fish. Well recently he found out that he was a bit of an odd fish intelligent and a little demonic looking set of teeth when you got him mad or tapped the glass.
“Come on now. We shall head towards the shard.” Dr. Strange said seeing the girl who looked like Alice from Wonderland. Hopefully the statue would find the white rabbit, or not. It was hard to say at this point what was going to happen. Strange knew if they were going to be able to do anything they had to get the shard back before someone else got it. But he doubted it was going to go well. ‘We best get going before it gets to even more trouble.” Dr. Strange began to climb the tower seeing it twisted and turned.
He heard a roar and rumble ahead as he tried to react to it. His hands were up too late as he felt the singes of fire burning off of what looked like a massive beast climbing in the walls. “Gah, it got me alright.” He said seeing his fingers were a bit scorched his hands which had once been gloved now were in searing pain. That was no mere child’s toy, but an actual life-sized looking dragon, as red scales covered its body with bright wings on its back, as he got to see one. He had only ever seen them in ancient books, but he knew that this dragon was probably someone’s play toy. "It is just a child's toy, but the shard turned it into a beast!" Dr. Strange said with a bit of awe, but this time he was ready. “Shield of Seraphim!” He called out another blast of flame that came in his direction to block himself and Otto. Why was he doing this? He realized this was all wrong and for the wrong reasons too. He would get the shard and put it safely in the Sanctorium. Otto had no idea what he was planning for it.

“Yes…Please do not send us anywhere using your…magic..” Otto scoffed. The last thing he needed was to end up in yet another dimension because Strange thinks himself a wizard. “All of this magic garbage is simply science that normal humans have yet to explain. There is so such thing as miracles or magic…”
“And my counterpart and I may have done things in our respective worlds that others see as negative. But at least I do not pretend to be what I am not…” Looking ahead he saw the castle; it was at the heart of the disturbance and he could feel some sort of energy in the very air. It was almost as if the shard had barricaded itself inside. Reality item was beginning to twist itself into rather unsavory constructs. Things one would only see during a high fever or drug binge…
“Be wary, the closer we get to the shard the more abstract things will become. I have no idea how long it will be before we too succumb to its power…” Hearing Strange talk about a wager Otto smirked. “You? Take the Spider off of my actuators for a while if I find the shard first? It is a deal….” He smirked as Strange walked ahead. He paused for a moment arching a brow. “…Mr. Bubbles?” As they came to a tower and began to climb the building began to look less like New York and more like…Camelot? He knew what the castle in Central Park looked like and this was no longer it….Hearing a roar he too became startled as he checked out a nearby window! A large seemingly plastic dragon was now scaling the building! He could see the seams in its legs but its large head and eyes never moved or blinked. It wasn’t alive, the fire however was quite real!
“Blast it all!” Backing away from the window his actuators curled in front of him to block the fire as Strange conjured a large transparent shield! “A force field? You couldn’t have done that sooner…?” Rearing hand a hand Otto lashed forward as his two upper actuators slammed into the wall just as the dragon reached the window! The entire wall broke apart sending the plastic beast to the ground down below as its head and tail snapped off! Taking a few steps to the edge Otto looked down at the now ex-child’s toy as he began to formulate a plan.
“The castle, and that toy. Alice in Wonderland. All of the random manifestations we have been seeing. Of course.” Looking at Strange he hit his fist into his palm! “The reality shard! It needs a mind to function. Without someone to use its power, it’s reaching out to whatever mind it can find. All of these things are abstract constructs made from the minds of the people who were in the park. We need to reach it before it creates something else…” Looking up the spiraling staircase of the tower he could see something glowing.
“We need to keep our own imaginations under control. Stay focused or it will use our thoughts as well….” He raised a brow over his glasses. “Think you can handle that Mr. Wizard?”

Dr. Strange and many other children were well aware of the stories of Alice in Wonderland or Alice Through the Looking Glass. He was positive, that he had those stories still in his library under the children's section or for pleasure reading when he had the time. He probably, as a kid, knew the stories by heart. However, things had changed when his father had encouraged him to try and study and read. More than focus on fairy tales and other bouts of magic. His father was just like Dr. Otto Octavius, as he would have probably been rolling in his grave now to find out that his son had been interested in magic. A curve in Dr. Strange’s life that he would have never happened if he had not gotten into a car crash. He doubted Dr. Ock would ever listen to him.
“Mr. Bubbles? He is part goldfish, Demon, and more than likely piranha he is in my home as we speak.” Dr. Strange said knowing hearing something like that was going to be impossible to understand. “But if we have got a deal. I will watch your Scarlet Spider for a few days as long as he does not break anything in my home. I have lots of old artifacts there dating back from the 1st century.” Dr. Strange said knowing he had a couple of rules, but he had a feeling he might be able to keep the kid busy long enough so he would not go destroying his home. He knew the fish part sounded probably odd as no one had heard such a thing. Even he was a bit baffled about what to do with him, but he seemed perfectly content with living in his home.
“Do not judge me as I will not judge you on your abilities.” Dr. Strange said rolling his eyes as they began to ascend the stairs as Stephen knew that this was going to be a rather reluctant team-up. Quite frankly, he would have preferred to do this on his own. Stephen dreaded what it would be like for others. He knew for a long time now from his dimension. “A shield is one of the more simple and easier tasks I can perform.” He pointed out.
“Hm, I have read Alice and Wonderland many times as a child, with the tales of Brothers Grimm. If added right, we may run into her… A certain character that I do not want to meet, even in a made-up imagination mind.” Dr. Strange said as they began to ascend the stairs. With the dragon now, "defeated," as it launched off the side of the wall. They were climbing higher, higher, and higher as they reached what appeared to be a throne room. Some guards looked like they were cards of solitaire, and red eyes appeared between the metal. Then ascending at the far end of it with a red royal rug was a smaller side woman with red hair who looked rather a budgie with an unusually large head. It was the Red Queen. “How dare you enter my castle! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!” The voice boomed it made, and Dr. Strange shake a bit.
he began to make the daggers appear again around him in silhouettes. “Again, this is just like the book. I hope you are prepared for a fight. Except I think I see something… There right on the throne, there is a shard.” Dr. Strange Said with a humph as he would be able to keep them distracted for so long.

“A demon..fish?” Otto raised a brow before bringing up a hand pinching the bridge of his nose. “Why is it everything you say sounds ridiculous Strange?” He half expected him to start sawing a woman in half and pulling an endless stream of scarves out of his nose.
“Fine, fine. If you win ill watch your..fish ..thing..” It was then Otto smirked.
“Oh, I am already judging you, a little too late to stop now in fact…” He said as he climbed past Strange up the staircase. They just needed to get to the shard and get it under control, then this whole nightmare will be over and done with and Otto can return to his lab! Honestly, he was a scientist, doing all of this fieldwork was beneath him. But if he wanted the shard, he had to trudge through it. Hearing Strange talk about Alice in Wonderland, he huffed a little as he made it to the top floor, his actuator shoving open a wooden trap door in his way. Stepping into what looked like a throne room Otto raised a brow. Guards lined the walls but they were flat as paper…playing cards? It was then Octavius saw the cause of all of this! The shard sitting on the throne hovering just above a stuffed pillow.
“The shard made all of this….” Seeing the figure of the Queen of Hearts he growled a little at Strange.
“I thought I told you to keep your imagination under contro-YAH!” Octopus ducked as a large ax suddenly splintered a wooden chair behind him! His arms screeched grabbing hold of the ax handle as he blocked the next swing! The lunatic woman now in his face yelling something about cutting his head off!
“Strange…Do something!” Otto sneered as his actuators did all they could to keep her back! He was shocked as she began to overpower his arms! “She is…very strong for a fictional character!” She then pushed him back to the floor!

“I know it sounds ridiculous, but it is real,” Strange said. “I only inherited him from my mentor. He seemed satisfied in my home now, and just pay attention to the problem at hand.” Dr. Strange said as he saw the woman with a small body with a large head. He remembered reading the Brother’s Grimm fairy tales when he had been a child as he had always been a bookworm when it came to reading. It was a way to escape his former ways of life to understand stories and delve into imagination. At some point, Strange had moved on from those stories, like Shakespeare and higher-up parts of magic. Strange had interesting tastes as his library would build for him in his house.
“Oh, so now you ask for my help. What happened to the part where you said that magic doesn’t exist?” Strange said, he put a hand on his hip and the next one around his chin. He was wracking his mind around conjuring spells that might be able to help them here. “Hmm, The Black Queen has always been a dominant character, and she thrives in fear and anger, and most villains should know that. But if there is one thing, she couldn’t stand, was Alice. Remember this is all in our minds. They are not real.” Dr. Strange said. It was clear that he had enjoyed the plead from Otto, even if it was only for a few seconds of it. If he had any faith, it would come now.
“The crimson bands of Cytorrak and the mists of Morpheus!” he called out just like that. Strange began to make a large sleep spell as a soft cloud could be seen coming through the air. The haze fell upon the knights and card looking like soldiers. The guards soon dropped their weapons and collapsed in a heap on the floor. He had saved the best for last as he looked back towards where the queen was. One by one, they dropped to the floor leaving her defenseless. Strange had sent some bands around her that were bright red along with some ancient writing around her.
“Off with their heads! I can’t move! How dare you defy the Queen! I deserve the authority here! I rule this castle!” She called out again as Strange sighed. “You can not release the grip of the bands of cyttorak, and they will only bind you if you move and struggle some more. I suppose you are free to get to the shard Otto, you deserve it, since you were searching so hard,” Strange said seeing that they had gotten this far. The other doctor might as well take it. This surprised him as Strange himself had been so competitive. Perhaps it’d give Strange some peace. As he doubted the two would ever get along. “You’re welcome also.” He added. A strong and defiant woman indeed. But Strange easily took her out. How was that for some magic?
