New York City, 123 Bleecker Street, was a silent place with a couple of buildings surrounding it. For the most part, the place looked like an average New York Street, with average New Yorkers going around the streets minding their own business. At 9:00 pm, the place was still busy as people were off from work and heading home or enjoying the city night street. Most civilians saw that the Sanctorium was cloaked in a veil as the whole thing had been an illusion. Standing at 123 Bleecker Street looked more like a dump, an empty city block with a fancy lion statue sitting on his back legs, at the front. Most people would’ve suspected the lion statue on guard. It was the only remains of whoever had once lived in the building. Some time ago, before it got knocked down. Except there was one thing: It had never been knocked down, in the first place.
Dr. Strange didn’t seem to mind at all of the activity outside, and he had been reading a book in his odd toothy chair with red leather. And an eye looking over as warm and in the living room. Dr. Strange had the feeling he hadn’t gone out in a while. Not since the last shard had shown itself. The whole building felt old and ancient. Dr. Strange had collected various items and objects throughout the years from his days of going on different adventures.
Closing his book, he figured he’d go on a walk. Mr. Bubbles, of course, the goldfish, had been reading some of the books that Strange had gotten him the goldfish was very intent on his reading. Strange, of course, had normal appliances in the kitchen and a television set. Some might call him old-fashioned. “I am going out. I will be back in an hour or so. to clear my head. It’s been rather quiet, lately.” Dr. Strange said to the fish as it blew a couple of bubbles in his small bowl. He headed out as he was dressed in normal clothing, and to go take a walk. With no clear direction in mind, he might walk around the block and back before it got too late. With the fire stopped, and doors locked, Dr. Strange donned civilian clothing to blend in. Perhaps tonight might be an interesting one.

Gentleman Ghost may have been in a different area, but his habits remained the same. His habit of seizing any valuable he viewed. A crook when he was alive and after his life. It was pure boredom that caused him to pick pockets. Seize any jewelry within a shop. He looked around.
If anyone planned to harm Gentleman Ghost? There was going to be more than one spirit.
One smile formed on Gentleman Ghost's invisible face when he viewed crowds walking by. Necklaces around women. He walked near a woman and seized her necklace without the latter's knowledge. His top hat was lifted at a snail's pace.
''Many thanks, Madame.'' The necklace was placed in the side of his long coat. Gentleman Ghost glanced at himself. One white Victorian-era suit with a long cape. His top hat and monocle appeared to float when they didn't. Even a gentleman crook refused to reveal his decaying features. His eyes settled on a woman's bracelet as she walked by him.
What would Gentleman Ghost's parents have thought about him being a crook? His father abandoned his wife and young son to begin with. His mother didn't seem to mind him being a pickpocket.
Gentleman Ghost wiggled his fingers and swiftly took the bracelet. It joined the necklace in his coat.
Boredom remained with Gentleman Ghost as he frowned and his shoulders slumped.

“It was here a minute ago, and where did my necklace go?” The woman asked as she had passed the sorcerer. At first, he had paid no mind towards the woman, but she looked troubled. At first, it looked like she was about to accuse him of stealing, and if anything, they were wrong. Dr. Strange had his pocket watch with him, and an old item is known as the Eye of Agamatto. Call him a little bit old-fashioned. Perhaps it was easy to say that his house was full of antiques of forgotten eras, cursed items, and even blessed ones or supernatural ones. They were stored away since the public was not worth seeing them in the mortal lives.
Then there was another one as the person walking by seemed to be missing an item. This certainly was odd. Was there a thief in the middle of the night? Normally, Strange would have paid no mind to the petty theft crimes that were going on. But there was something else going on. He had no idea what it was or who was behind this, and he thought he should at least ask first before assuming that something was wrong here. “Excuse me, Ma’am, did you happen to see who was behind this?” Strange asked.
“No, it was here one minute then gone the next like disappeared out of thin air.” She said with a frown.
“I’ll take a look into it, and I am fearful I might not be able to find much. You may want to call the police.” Strange said as the woman nodded. He was certain that she hadn’t had much faith in him. If only she knew who he was.
Dismissing that lack of confidence that the woman was giving him. he quickly went down one alleyway. “Eye of Agamotto, show me who is behind this.” He said as the eye opened up, and a thick green hazel looked to it as it glowed. There was something unusual about this as he saw the woman get her items stolen right in front of her. But there was no one there. It seemed odd as the necklace floated away like that. He believed that he was dealing with a ghost. Something supernatural that he had only come across a handful of times. It was a ghost.
Now the next part was to find him as he let the eye follow him down the streets. He just hoped it wasn’t too late for this. He rounded another corner as the eye was stronger than ever. “Why don’t you show yourself, fiend? I know you are here.” He said. He knew had to be on guard. Sometimes ghosts were not always friendly back. Apart from him was truly fascinated by ghosts. Another part of him knew something was not right here. Some ghosts choose to stay here. While others had unfinished business.

Gentleman Ghost wondered if there was anything else for him to do. The jewelry possibilities were endless to him. A lot like his afterlife. Always floating above streets. Seizing the same valuables. Bowing and lifting his top hat near women and addressing them in a British accent.
One unfamiliar voice caused Gentleman Ghost to pause before his invisible eyes widened from curiosity.
Gentleman Ghost frowned and approached the man. The monocle was adjusted and his suit seemed fine with him. ''It's not very polite for you to refer to me as a fiend.'' He gave a slight bow.

“Being that you are a ghost I had to assume the worst. But you are a bit fascinating, I apologize for that statement earlier.” Dr. Strange said as the eye closed now that he had revealed the source of the spirit. “But you don’t seem that bad. By the judgement of your clothing, I’d see that you’re around the 1800’s or 1900’s?” Strange asked as he looked over the clothing seeing how old the ghost was. Dr. Strange had looked him up and down seeing the ghost as he was there. The man was intangible as he might be able to put a hand right through him and feel a cold chill. This type of stuff interested the sorcerer by far as he liked mystical arts and the supernatural worlds. He had dealt with demons before when his teacher was still around. But now he did most of these types of jobs on his own. Not until recently he had brought up two young magical users Talia and Rachel.
“My name is Dr. Strange, I have been a sorcerer for a couple of years, now. Attracted to the mystical arts and supernatural.” Dr. Strange said as he gave a soft bow back out of respect. “However, I might start accusing you of pick pocketing someone went by me saying that they had a necklace stolen but I don’t know if it is you or not.” Dr. Strange said crossing his arms around as he wasn’t moving before it.
“I would also suggest doing other things, I know I would, once I was long dead.” Dr. Strange suggested.

''Fascinating?'' There was a bit of confusion in Gentleman Ghost's eyes. He then smiled. ''Many thanks,'' Gentleman Ghost said as he nodded. He focused on the man for a few seconds. ''Well, I guess I was a bit grumpy. I do apologize for that,'' he said.
Gentleman Ghost began to nod another time. ''I'm from the 18th century. You're correct.''
Gentleman Ghost heard the man while he introduced himself as Dr. Strange. ''It's a pleasure.'' He lifted his hat another time. A sorcerer? Interesting. Gentleman Ghost attempted to remember when he was with sorcerers. Then again, it was difficult for him to keep track of every face.
''Oh. Right. The necklace.''
Eyes were wide with curiosity when Dr. Strange mentioned he was once long dead.
''Oh? How did you die if you don't mind me asking?''

“I see now I was correct. The mystical arts and ghosts have fascinated me. I have read many books on them to try and learn about ghosts and famous hauntings. I have only ever come across a few myself. I normally leave those ghosts to themselves.” Dr. Strange said unless it was a profoundly serious, circumstance where he had to come in if the ghosts were interfering with other people or endangering other people’s life. He decided to give a bow back out of respect.
“I found you, because the Eye of Agamotto sought you out, from your form of energy that you give off. It was a gift from my mentor before they passed away. They can see objects hidden to the normal eye, and they see all magical or mystical types.” Dr. Strange. said, “Do not even think about stealing it though, it is one of my prized possessions.” The sorcerer warned back towards the ghost as Dr. Strange would be after him faster than the ghost might realize it.
“Oh no, I apologize for the confusion, I am alive and well.” Dr. Strange said. “I was saying if I had died, I would be out seeing the world and seeing different things along with it like Paris and France, London, and even over to Tokyo.” He said. He knew those other places around the world, and he had never once had a chance, to try to go ahead and visit those areas. Dr. Strange had managed to catch the necklace. If he did not find that lady again, he would hand it over to the police since he had told her to go there in the first place.
“There is one thing that I do not quite understand. Ghosts wander around with unfinished business or even trying to accomplish things. You seem content with being a pickpocket? Could use this opportunity to solve something.” Dr. Strange offered. “In other words, I am offering my services. As long as you do not steal anything, for the rest of the night. If we can not find the woman again, I will bring the necklace to the police. Do we have a deal?” He asked knowing that old habits are hard to break, even so, Dr. Strange had a feeling that he might turn back on that. One night was not going to be too hard. Hopefully, if he had to keep an eye on him. Things might get more and more interesting as Strange hung out with a ghost. He would have another story to tell once he got back towards his mentors. He knew he had all kinds of stories, and even keeping a normal life was next to impossible for the Sorcerer Supreme.

''Do you recall what the ghosts looked like?'' Eye of Agamotto? Gentleman Ghost wondered if he was able to steal... Well, Dr. Strange certainly answered for him. He wasn't certain if he was fast enough to phase if he was attacked. ''Very well. The Eye of Agamotto shall remain with you,'' he said.
Alive and well? Curiosity and interest then appeared in Gentleman Ghost's eyes as soon as London was mentioned. ''Oh? I'm from London. My life wasn't great there, but it remained my home. At least before the hangman's noose ended my life.'' He nodded after he was asked if he was asked if he was content with being a pickpocket.
''It's occasionally fun to seize jewelry. Being a spirit can be boring sometimes.''
Services? ''I could go without stealing anything for the remainder of the evening.'' Gentleman Ghost had centuries to steal things. There was another nod.

"I know I had to chase a poltergeist out of someone's house. They didn't have the means of doing it themselves, and they now have a barrier around their house so any ghosts may not enter." Dr. Strange said. "I normally don't deal with ghosts unless there is something seriously wrong. This ghost had been hurting a family, and tormenting it. They usually call me last resort. I also have dealt with a couple of demons. The worst of the ones that I have encountered was Dormammu." Dr. Strange explained, knowing that the simple hauntings of going through walls and levitating, he didn't bother with those. Dormammu on the other hand was one of the worst. Devouring souls and also trying to attack people just to cause chaos.
Last he was aware of, Dormammu had been locked away in another dimension. Some ghosts seemed harmless, and most humans could live with that type of activity just had to get along and live with ghosts. He was relieved to see that the Gentleman Ghost wouldn't take his Eye of Agamotto if it fell into the wrong hands, and they could use it for all the wrong reasons. Ghosts were once people too, just no longer living. They had to be respected and cared about.
"I see. I'm sorry to hear that is a terrible way to die. So you are from London? I could send a small portal to send us to London if you are up for it? I understand if you don't want to l relive those painful moments." Dr. Strange offered. Though he couldn't go in the past, he could send them to London today and see what was going on. He knew those types of memories were painful and often hard to enjoy, for that matter.
"Good, that is a start in the right direction." Dr. Strange said. "Is there anything I can do for you tonight? We can visit someone. A loved one or anything else you can think of, the door is open." He offered. He knew that this might be causing it to be a rather deadly chance, of toying with a ghost. He did have his guard up in case anything happened. As thieves could be smart, and tricky. He had to be ready for just about anything that came his way.

''Poltergeists, hm? I don't think I crossed paths with a poltergeist. Well, the people won't worry about me haunting them if they have a barrier around their house.'' Gentleman Ghost usually never harmed others unless he was attacked first. If others were impolite. Then he didn't hesitate to thrash them.
''I wouldn't have harmed the family,'' Gentleman Ghost said.
Frowning, Gentleman Ghost tensed and refused to recall how his life ended. ''Then again, I was a highwayman.'' He nodded after he was asked if he was from London. ''A portal to London? Interesting.'' He shrugged.
''Well, I was with my parents when I was a boy. At least until my father refused to be seen with his poor wife and left me with her on a road. I have a few fond flashbacks of being with my mum. She's buried in London. I should know. I buried her myself.'' Gentleman Ghost was thoughtful as one gloved finger was placed under his invisible face.
''I am a bit curious about how London looks after two centuries.''
Gentleman Ghost's thoughtful expression came back.
''Well, I am a bit hungry. Yes. Even spirits are hungry and thirsty sometimes.'' Gentleman Ghost began to smile.

“That is good to hear you don’t seem that threatening other than stealing things out of purses.” Dr. Strange said as he saw at least that the gentleman ghost was polite. Dr. Strange knew not all ghosts were bad, or evil. Some of them just had unfinished business. Or others were there looking for loved ones. He had no idea what Gentlemen Ghost was after. Perhaps he’d never find out. But diving more into his past might help him just a little bit.
“Do you have any relatives? We can go visit them in London while we are out at London for a few short hours.” Dr. Strange said knowing he didn’t like to stray far from the Sanctum Sanctorium and leave his home unattended. Not to mention he had two young training students that he was looking after also. London was a nice place to visit and very pleasant. Lots of places to go on vacation and become a tourist since there were museums. London was certainly an ancient city.
“We could go to London, and I will just put a veil around us for protection, no one will bother us while we are out.” Dr. Strange sad.
“Come again, are you hungry and thirsty? I thought when you were dead. you don’t have to worry about that type of stuff anymore.” Dr. Strange said. He might’ve not been an expert when it came to ghosts. He did have his theories after reading all kinds of books and such. But having encountered ghosts who were the last case didn’t eat and hadn’t eaten for decades as their fuel was a source of energy usually.
“Regardless, we will go out and visit London. I have to be back in a few hours to tend to things at my own home.” Dr. Strange said as he put his fingers together as he took his first finger and his pinky out, he began to chant some unknown language that most might’ve not thought of at all. Soon a gold form of a circular object appeared as it ripped through space, and he began to open it wide enough for the two of them. “I have set us near a church in London and a veil that will wear off after a few minutes. I didn’t want the citizens of London to panic. Now step inside, and it will take us right to London.” Dr. Strange explained, offering a chance for the ghost to go first.

''Well, I have been known to attack if someone intended to hurt me first.'' What Gentleman Ghost didn't mention was the fortune teller mentioning him being forced to kill his greatest enemies in London if he wished to return to life. He just never found his opponents. ''I'm also not very fond of impolite people. I've been with other rogues. Well, I've also been known to errr rob banks.''
Gentleman Ghost recalled sometimes walking through bank doors and revealing two ghostly flintlock pistols. Aiming them at wide-eyed people. Instructing them to drop everything by him in a polite tone. Jewelry. Money. Lifting his top hat and addressing them politely again.
Gentleman Ghost shrugged. ''My parents were the ones I remembered. Father abandoned me with my mum centuries ago. I have no idea where he is.'' Gentleman Ghost's tone became one of sadness. He slouched for a split second. Tears almost filled his unseen eyes.
''As previously mentioned, Mum is buried in London.''
Gentleman Ghost was then thoughtful for a second.
''We might be able to summon Mum's spirit if we're near her grave.''
A veil seemed fine. There was a slight nod when Gentleman Ghost was asked if he was hungry and thirsty. ''I crave food and drinks occasionally.''
Shoulders went up again. ''A few hours seem fine to me,'' he said. Gentleman Ghost viewed a golden circular object appearing. He stepped inside with extreme caution.

The large portal opened up as Dr. Strange went in after the ghost. Soon they opened up on a cobblestone path that had been lied up with Bricks. Dr. Strange himself had never been to London or Paris before so it’d be neat to see this place for the very first time. They were right outside a churchyard that would have a graveyard, and they could check the gravestones there and see if Gentleman Ghost’s family members were there. If these ancient cobble stone pathways could talk they would probably have a whole lot to feel. Stephen could sense the old ancient ways heavily as London and Paris. Cities like that were often filled with the ancient history and even hidden in the cracks, ancient magic. There were people going about their business as they hadn't even noticed a ghost or sorcerer who had entered.
“I see, we can try to find your parents. There are several graveyards in London, so we should be able to find them with relative ease.” Dr. Strange said. He wondered if that was one thing to reunite Gentleman ghost with his relatives it would make sense. Though most of his family was gone, Dr. Strange had parents who had died some time ago.
“I’m sorry to hear about that with your parents. Mine died ever before I became Sorcerer supreme. It is a subject I don't like talking about unfortunately... Shall we head to the cemetery to see if we can find them? I can assure you that ghosts will not scare me like some people.” Dr. Strange offered as he began to walk down one of the alleyways. He could only think and see of what Gentlemen ghost had thought they might do best. To think that Paris and France had seen all kinds of rich history and vibrant people that had once been here.
“We can go, then it is a short portal trip away.” Dr. Strange said as he had plenty of energy to do several more portals, they were something that took him a long time to try and figure out how to use in magic. However, if he wanted to see his mother, Dr. Strange wouldn’t deny Gentlemen ghost for seeing a relative a reunion was perhaps necessary for that matter. "I guess we can search for your mother then, since she is the closest idea that we have on a location." Stephen summed up.
Now that seemed like decades ago as Paris was waiting for new life to prosper. Dr. Strange still had not been able to figure out how to get back home. As it had been the greatest mystery, they hadn’t figure out to solve it just yet.

Gentleman Ghost found himself on a cobblestone path. ''I know exactly where Mum is buried. I don't know about my father. He's not my first priority.'' Gentleman Ghost heard Dr. Strange while he mentioned his deceased parents. Very rare sympathy appeared in his eyes.
''Sorry to hear about your parents.'' As for ghosts? ''Well, you're with me.'' He slouched a bit.
''I would like to be with Mum again.'' Gentleman Ghost wondered if she was going to ask if the ghostly army she gave to him succeeded in defeating his enemies in England. Sadly no.
