CANON, AU CANON OR ORIGINAL: Canon
POWERS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Power Absorption - Can absorb the powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality and physical abilities (whether superhuman or not) of another human being (or members of some sentient alien races) through physical contact of her skin with the skin of the other person. She is not limited to absorbing superhuman abilities: for example, she has absorbed the strength, agility, and sharp reflexes of an enhanced human. She can also absorb psionic abilities. In absorbing another persons memories Rogue also gains the emotional responses connected to them. For the transfer of abilities to be accomplished, Rogue’s skin must contact the skin of her victim. Rogue can only absorb abilities and memories from living organic beings. She can possess the powers of several superhuman persons at once. No upper limit has yet been determined for the number of superhuman beings whose power she can maintain simultaneously, or for the amount of power that she can absorb. Rogue can even absorb gross physical characteristics from a victim. Her physical appearance does not change when she absorbs abilities and memories from a normal looking human being. The victim's abilities and memories are absorbed for a time sixty times longer than the period of time Rogue was in physical contact with that person.
Combat fight skills - Before the X-Men, or even the Brotherhood, Rogue learned kickboxing on her own...which of course meant she hadn't perfected it. But after joining the X-Men, under Wolverine's tutelage, not only she fixed up that, she also learned karate, judo, and boxing. She also was trained in acrobatics and athletics.
Fluent French - she's fluent in French, as she is from Mississippi, Caldecott County.
Street-smarts- she called Rogue, for she's always running away, living on her own. She learned to be very independent in the streets before joining the X-Men.
WEAKNESS Oh she has weaknesses, and they're a dozy. Her own powers is her weakness, as it is her strength. It is a curse to her.
Lack of control - she can't make physical contact with anyone with her skin, or she involuntarily absorb their life-force. Therefore, she has to cover herself, and wear gloves, even during hot days.
Mental instability - Her powers also absorb her victims' memories. At first, she though this, and their abilities, leave her mind after a few minutes, but as it turns out, a copy of their memories and abilities are lying in dormant within her mind. And absorbing too many, those personalities will clash and try to reign dominance of her mind. This will cause her to go crazy, and all the powers she took will randomly surface and go chaotic.
Can't live with it, can't live without it - Ironically, as much as Rogue tries not to rely on her power, when push comes to shove, she has to use it. Without her absorption, she's as vulnerable as any human, and her fighting skills won't do much against much stronger foes.
Anti-social and bitterness - Because of her powers, and among other things in her life, Rogue is distant, sarcastic, and alarmingly defensive. As a result of her isolation, Rogue has trouble trusting people, and after Mystique posed as a normal teen who became her best friend, Rogue can't trust anyone outside the X-Men. And speaking of Mystique, her so-called foster mother, after all the things she done, Rogue HATES her to the point that when the shapeshifter was petrified as stone, she was told that her powers could restore her....but instead, she pushed her off a cliff.
Born in the small towns in Caldecott County, Mississippi, Anna Marie's origin was a mystery, but was adopted by same-sex female couple who tried to care for her, but her rebel attitude was difficult. During her night-out with her childhood friend, Cody, Anna impulsively kissed Cody, at which point, her latent mutant power to absorb the life energy and psyche of others with skin-to-skin contact emerged. Cody was left in a coma from which he would not awaken. Anna was traumatized by the experience and she wore body-concealing clothing that eliminated the possibility of accidental skin contact. But after what happened with Cody, revealed her to her family and friends as a mutant. Shunned, Anna ran away from her home, adopting the nickname, Rogue.
Not long after, the X-Men detected her when her powers were awakened, and tried to approach her. But Mystique, who sought her out on the advice of her precognitive partner, Destiny, also had an eye on her. Thanks to some trickery by Mystique's shapeshifting powers, she was led to believe that the X-Men wanted to hurt her, leading her to run for Mystique. Mystique ultimately took Rogue in as a daughter. In time, however, Mystique turned Rogue's loneliness, envy, bitterness, and despair into anger, thus recruiting her into the Brotherhood of Mutants.
But during a school field trip with just her and Scott with some classmates, in Rogue confrontation against Cyclops, Rogue learned Mystique's true nature when she absorbed her power. Since then, she switched sides with the X-Men, becoming a valuable member, even to this day.
That is until all the powers and memories she took tried to take over, no thanks to Mystique posing as a British girl named Ritsy, who became her best friend, so Mystique can spy on the X-Men. When Rogue found out, she exploded. Having absorbed so many different personalities, Rogue's mind had a hard time maintaining control. She started to sink into the background and the other personalities surged to the surface. Xavier was able to purge her mind of the extra personalities, but now she lives in fear of using her powers and having the same thing happen all over again.
But once again, Mystique used her daughter for her own gain, to helping Apocalypse rise, by taking all the powers and memories of the people Rogue took throughout the years. The ancient mutant replayed Mystique by turning her to stone. Rogue's step brother, Kurt, learned from an old witch, Agatha, that Mystique can be restored by using Rogue powers. But after everything the shapeshifter done to her, Rogue's anger and hatred over her caused her to push Mystique off a cliff. Rogue planned on leaving the X-Men to clear her thoughts until a mutant thief, and former Magneto thug, Gambit, kidnaps Rogue, claiming she'd looked so unhappy for the past couple weeks and brought her with him to New Orleans. However, she was mad once again that he, too, was using her for her powers. Though at the very least, it was for the right reason to rescue his father, so she forgave him for that.
Rogue later was instrumental in defeating Apocalypse, for she absorbed a young mutant who can stop mutant powers. Rogue used those abilities to cancel Apocalypse's powers and sealed him in his tomb, trapping him in a time limbo.
So now, she still sides with the X-Men, dealing with mutant prejudice and evil mutants...until an accident during a mission launched her off a cliff...but was taken by a pink wave of light...now finding herself in New York City.
