Characters Appearing: Scarecrow/Joker/Cindi/Raven Location (s): St Bendis Elementary Playground Previous Thread Name: None Plot Summary: Manic and emotionally turbulent Arthur chooses to raise some hell in the playground to feel better.
For the first time in a long time, Arthur was not smiling. As a matter of fact, he was pulling an uncharacteristic grimace as he angrily paced back and forth, other children taking great pains to avoid him as he stormed past the swing set. The most annoying part of his mood was that he didn't understand why he felt so bad, he was Arthur, he never felt bad! He ran a hand through his messy green locks. It wasn't his fault that clown girl was so strangely sensitive. What was her deal with him anyway, he hardly even knew her. Still, that didn't stop that weird feeling that boiled in his stomach. It wasn't his fault she couldn't take a joke. Most people didn't get his jokes, so why was this different?
His green eyes spotted a certain lanky boy as his mood seemed to shift. If he couldn't process his emotions he could at least use a decent distraction. He had known Crane since they were practically in diapers. A smile crept onto his face, the emotional turmoil ebbing further and further behind him.
"Hey, Crane!" He waved as he made his way toward the blonde boy, watching in a special kind of delight as the boy seemed to pale at the sight of him.

Little Crane had been leaned comfortably against a tree at the very edge of the playground, happily alone in his own little bubble reading out of a psychology textbook he had taken from his father's study. And he was content that way. The had been perfect. It was sunny, warm but not too hot, there was a gentle breeze and he had gone nearly the whole day without being picked on or bothered. Well, nearly.
Hearing his name get called he looked up from his book, a look of unamused annoyance on his face. His eyes then widened as he gulped in nervousness. Oh no, what does he want now? Arthur only called after people, for one thing, amusement. Jonathan could still remember the last time he and Arthur had 'teamed up' (Arthur's words not his) and the punishment from both the teachers and his father had been so severe he swore never to help Arthur gain his precious entertainment ever again. Though he didn't really see a way out of this encounter.
There was something different about Arthur today. Usually, the little clown walked around with a smile and the air of a pompous jerkwad, but this time he seemed less confident, less coordinated. He seemed like the Arthur he knew back in kindergarten, but that was quickly dashed when the smile returned to his face.
"Oh, hello - uh - Arthur." He stuttered as he looked at the clown, trying his best to smile. "What's going on?"

Raven had been reading one of the books that she had gotten from her mother. She adored magic and had been just getting out of one of the classes for recess. She did not get it as the adults used it for a ‘break’ while the kids and adults could eat their lunch. But she was not particularly hungry, and she just wanted to read. As she approached the playground levitating off the ground to avoid tripping on anything, she heard the kid known as Arthur call out to Crane as she had met them on the bus. She already knew that Arthur had a bad reputation, as a bully, as she knew him from the stories Robin told her. Rachel closed her book holding it in her hand as she sighed. Rachel mostly kept to herself, but it was clear someone needed to stand up to him.
“Why don't you go pick on someone else like some of the older kids? I am sure they would love to see you shake up and down for your money- Better yet.” Raven said. She could not believe she was about to defend Crane. She knew nothing about the guy other than he was kind of scary-looking herself. But Raven had never had anyone interested in her powers since she encountered the Tiny Teen Titans as they had all gone to school before. There was the bubbly Starfire, annoying Beast Boy, and Robin. This school felt different since she had transferred a year ago. She had no hard feelings for her mother. But she missed them. She could understand how it felt on the new kid on the school as she had been one herself.
Her eyes turned a deep red, as her soul-self materialized, as a large raven in front of her. The creature caused some of the kids to run away in fear. Well, that was what you got for a being half-demon Raven's powers were rather impressive, but she knew if she ever revealed that around these kids. They would be running away and never talking to her. Raven just wanted to be normal. “Have a piece of my soul self. And leave him alone.” She snarled. Rachel had been fed up with all the bullying. Suppose she could have gone and told one of the teachers. However, a part of her did not trust them. They would ALL get in trouble if that were the case. She was not about to rat out some of the students or snitch on them if they did something bad. Raven was not going to hurt Arthur, with the black raven. Though Raven could not tell if anything scared Arthur, he was just a pain.
Cindi Moon had just moved to town a few months ago from Korea as she walked around the playground. She was wearing a white hoodie with spider webbing sewn across it and a red scarf and torn jeans. Being new making friends was in short supply but she made a few acquaintances. Kaine for one. A rather shy kid who seemed to turn beet red whenever she was near. She began to think he had some sort of allergy. There was Otto and Barbara a couple of Brainiacs. Harley, she got along with pretty well, and the new kid Peter.
But then there was Jonathan Crane and Raven, the goth kids. Normally they kept to their own, Crane liked a lot of weird things and Raven liked…more weird things. A world Cindi didn’t fit in with, but just because they had different interests didn’t mean they deserved to be bullied! One bully being Arthur….and lately he has been a colossal jerk to everyone.
She paused watching the confrontation as Raven used her powers creating a dark shadow like bird behind her that towered over them! “Uh oh…” Cindi ran up getting in-between them all!
“Woah woah! Let’s take it easy okay! No need to resort of uhm..giant demon birds okay?” Looking over at Arthur, Cindy folded her arms.
“Not cool Arthur. Just because you’re mad about something doesn’t give you the right to pick on Johnny!” She said pointing a finger at him. “And look! You’re gonna get Raven in trouble! Mrs. Brant told us no destructive powers on the playground!”
Ah, Crane. Timid, meek, quiet little Crane. Arthur enjoyed watching squirm under his gaze. The two had known each other for years, they had even grown up on the same street. He knew that, in spite of Crane's unassuming appearance, he was just as naturally demented as Arthur was. Crane just happened to be a bit better at hiding it. It was what made them such a good pair when it came to starting some mayhem, and the little clown could really use some mayhem right now. Arthur opened his mouth to speak to the little Scarecrow when his attention was pulled away by some girl he barely knew.
He knew her only as Rachel, some goth chick who had strange magical powers, not that her abilities scared Arthur. Oh no, as a matter of fact, he enjoyed watching the girl lose her cool. Every now and then she would lose her composure, and when she did wonderfully bad things happened. It was almost like there was something rotten basting inside her, just screaming to get out.
"Oooh my! What a lovely show!" He teased as he walked up to Raven's soul self. Despite his mocking tone, he was mildly intrigued. Sure, this 'soul self' may not have had the same chaotic effects as fear toxin, but he supposed it was good for something. He prodded the would with his finger. "Wow, this girl makes a demon version of herself and people think I'm the crazy one. Where have you been hiding this thing anyway?"
Arthur took a step back as another girl stepped in, what was it with the girls in his grade getting on his nerves today. "Oh, if it isn't the amazing Bug-girl. What brings you to this side of the playground, hm? Tired of being alone so you had to thrust yourself into this?" He chastised as he leaned against the tree Crane sat under. "Ugh, we can't use powers in the schoolyard! You're such a goody-two-shoes!"

"Look, I know what you want I don't think I can--" Jonathan stopped mid-sentence as a third party entered the conversation. Peeking around Arthur he saw the girl from the bus on the first day of school, Rachel if he remembered right. His eyebrows rose in surprise and interest. He had never actually had someone come to his defense before. The situation was so foreign to him that he averted his eyes when she looked at him. Maybe it was the fact that he had never had a real friend before, or maybe it was because she was the only one brave enough to try to talk to him but he felt oddly touched by the gesture.
He warily looked at Arthur. Arthur did not enjoy being challenged, but he seemed to be taking things in slower strides today. He had known the clown forever and he could tell that, in spite of the constant smile, there was something just the slightest bit off about Arthur. He seemed more erratic than normal, not as in control of the situation as he usually was. He almost looked angry, maybe conflicted about something.
"I can't believe I'm siding with the goodies here, but they're right Arthur. Don't you remember the last time?" He referred to when he and the Joker had leaked some fear gas into the teacher's lounge a few months prior. His father's rage had been boundless. He watched as Arthur turned to face him with a furious expression.
"Oh, puh-lease! Like you weren't right beside me laughing it up. Everyone acts like I'm the bad guy like I'm the worst it can get. You are just as bad as I am! As a matter of fact, I'd argue that you're all just as bad, maybe even worse! At least I don't pretend to be normal when I'm not!" Arthur argued back angrily as he pointed an accusing finger at Crane.

Raven’s soul-self quickly disappeared. She had more so intrigued Joker than trying to get him to wet his pants. Some of the kids had run away on the nearby basketball court as she didn’t direct it at them. Her Soul Self had been with her since she was little and sometimes it even intrigued her as it could read her own emotions and thoughts. Even project it out to others as she worked on the astral plane. It had been a bit of a mystery at how powerful it was. “Hmph if we call the teachers out here it will only make Arthur come back with three times worse the next day it’ll not stop even though they say to come help. It happened with my last school with the bullies there.” Raven said with a sigh.
“And shut it. My demon half is something I live in a day in and day out. And keep my emotions in check. Unlike you, you dolt, all I see and hear is laughter, and your emotions are a mess. The last person I would want to hang out with for an empath.” Rachel said as her soul-self was returning to normal. She could not believe that she was defending Crane, for that matter. Well, anyone bullied on that matter, she could understand having gone through it before. Rachel’s last school they had been that way even picking on poor Beast Boy as Raven did not like that one bit.
“I can understand Jonathan, and you might have better morals than someone else here. No one should be bullied.” Rachel said as she looked a little bit ashamed of it. Though, if Trigon were here, Joker probably would not be laughing at that anymore. As for her father was someone to be feared. Even Rachel harbored a bit of fear from her father. As the last visit had been unwell. That was why Rachel had lived a few years in Azareth to get her powers in check. “Tch I’d like to hang you from the flagpole, and dangle you twenty feet the ground.” Rachel said with a huff. “But no matter if we have to get the teachers then we’ll get them,” Rachel added as her lack of trust in them showed. But she knew that Silk was more than right about that one. If they stood there and used their destructive powers. They would all be in trouble if they were just using their powers.
“Silk and Jonathan, why do not we all go and get the teacher? I am getting a bit tired of this, plus my reading material has been ruined.” Rachel said with an annoyed huff as she levitated off the ground. About ready to leave. She gave the Joker the cold shoulder. “Fear gas? Robin had told me about that once about my old school.” Rachel said with a bit of concern. Now that would have messed up her emotions feeling the whole thing. Rachel didn't understand why Harley hung around the Joker, when he was just mean to her.
