A hot day was upon them as Kaine hadn’t remembered the last time it had been this hot for some time. The temperatures were in the 90s. Although his suit was breathable, he knew there was only so much he could take while he was being Scarlet Spider. The red and black suit had survived this far, managing to patch it a couple of times. Kaine had gone out to clear his head as he got up on the roof and began to web sling. He loved web-slinging, it was one of his favorite things of having powers like Spider-Man, and he could do it almost effortlessly.
The clone webbed slung through the city before stopping, and at one point, Kaine looked down below. He knew he was a couple of blocks away from his apartment, and he would return to visit Cindi later as they had both been busy. Yet he cared about the woman a lot Kaine, had no idea how to talk to them. His experience with the opposite gender was slim, to none, besides with a handful of doctors. The Jackal told him that the world was cruel and harsh, and those views quickly became a part of Kaine. No one was kind, no one was caring, and there was no love. There was darkness and cruelty that was living in the shadows of the city that he had grown up in. The view of the world, that his father gave him, quickly changed. Kaine saw a different side of the world. He had met many people still lacking trust towards some as he had a hard time accepting his past.
Today would be no different as he watched the humans go about their daily business. He was in a kneeling position while he clung to a gargoyle who had probably watched the city for decades and had the creepy grin on his face. The gargoyle was worn away by time and rain that had pounded against him as pieces cracked and chiseled off. Kaine wondered and thought about Madame Webb’s last encounter if he really could change. If he could have to let go and go of his past and the mental scarring that came with it. But that was going to be hard.
The other part was having to break away from his template. He had always struggled with that side of him. Trying to show he wasn’t Spider-Man when his DNA said otherwise. Maybe today, Kaine could find himself in a position where he alone would have to figure it out. Breakaway, and just maybe he’d find himself. And search for his peace. “It’s quiet today. Perhaps that’s a good thing. Or perhaps it is the calm before the storm.” He said, as he knew his damaged and scarred eye wouldn’t help him out on trying to search the area. He had been away from Otto for a few days figuring the doctor needed some space to himself. Just as he needed his me time.
DAY AFTER DAY, LIKE A LIFETIME AWAY, I KEEP HOLDIN' ON
Karen was on to something.
She’d always had a knack for finding the deeper, darker secrets of New York. She’d also always had a knack for getting herself into trouble. Whether it was falling for a drug dealer, getting framed for murder, or actually being kidnapped and killing said kidnapper, Karen’s life was one big rollercoaster.
Still, all of these experiences hadn’t faltered her enthusiasm to help the world. The local newspapers in her hometown had hounded Karen and driven her away, but it had also ignited a need for justice and truth. The fire had stuck with her to this day. She didn’t want to write stories full of lies and deceit. She wanted cold, hard facts and authenticity. Even if it meant putting herself in danger from time to time.
This was one of those times.
Karen had found herself in an old forgotten warehouse. She’d caught lead of an underground drug ring around this area, along with sounds of shouting, screams and gun play. Karen kept a firm grip on her bag as she edged around the building, trying to find a door that wasn’t jammed shut. She thought she’d hit the jackpot when she jiggled a doorknob and the door moved. Unfortunately, it seemed she hadn’t been alone after all.
”Don’t move, sweetheart.”
Karen felt an arm worm it’s away around her neck and pull her roughly back. She let out a scream and her hand instinctively went to her bag where she’d brought her gun and trusty can of pepper spray. She wriggled frantically and attempted to elbow her attacker, but instantaneously froze when she felt the sudden stab of a gun pressed against her back. ”I said, don’t move,” the man whispered in her ear.

Kaine’s eyesight might be terrible. He saw the hazy blue sky above him as they were in mid afternoon. The day was still busy as ever as the humans below were walking around not having a clue that someone was watching them from the gargoyle post that he sat on. However, the clone heard someone scream not far from where he had been standing. He saw the abandoned warehouse as he put out some webbing and began to descend at an incredibly high fast rate as Kaine knew that he had to see what was going on. The clone timed his landing just right. Kaine managed to climb onto the nearby building before jumping over. He saw through a window what looked like a woman being held against her will. “That was a scream for help, and I know that much.” He said. Kaine was wondering who it was, but he quickly saw her. He knew Peter would’ve jumped right in the action to help.
It was true Kaine had been fighting a lot with his heroic side, and his recent run-in with heroics had usually wound up semi-good. He knew he was more than likely going to be compared with Spider-Man. He had thought hard about what Julia had said that he would find his path. Was this another chance at trying to find his way and find someone of an alliance?
Well, there was no questioning it as he quickly turned on his stealth suit as the nanobots quickly turned on as his suit turned dark and had glowing red lights on him. If he was going to try and use stealth, and now was his chance. He quickly turned on the nanobots as he went and slipped into the building, using the shadows to his advantage. The warehouse looked rather old. Broken windows, damaged and rusted pipes.
Kaine soon climbed on the rafters using his height as an advantage, and then he swung down on some webbing. With a free hand, he shot some webbing towards the guy to try and blind him “Hey, I heard it’s not right to pick on ladies. Ever heard of ladies first!?” Kaine said as he prepared to throw a powerful punch at the guy. He wasn’t holding back either as Peter did. This guy had picked the wrong day to try and steal things or even hurt someone. Kaine wasn't good with the quips like his brother was. One big difference. Kaine had wondered what this woman was doing here in the first place, a warehouse wasn't exactly the best place to hang out. Well, he'd fight and ask questions later.
